2010 Picture a Day Project
I decided to do a '365' or a 'Photo a Day' project during 2010. My main aim for doing this was to try and get me to carry a camera with me everywhere I went.
I was fed up with saying 'Oh I wished I'd had the camera with me' when I saw
a really view/shot. I wasn't sure what I was letting myself in for, it
sounds easy, just take a photo a day! But I didn't want it to turn into
taking 365 of the same photo, and I also hoped that I could manage to get
photos that actually meant something to me from each day.
Well it's a year on and the project is complete, what would I say? It was
good fun but I found it loads harder than expected. Some days it was a real
chore to actually pick up a camera and take a photo of something. I know
that probably sounds odd to some people but believe me it did happen. The
other thing I found hard was keeping everything organised. During the year I
used 5 different cameras, 3 computers, 2 bits of software and 2 external
hard drives for taking, saving and processing the images. That was a
disaster waiting to happen, and I ended up with a nightmare trying to sort
and catalogue the images a few months ago. To be honest I'm not 100% that
some of the dates of the photos are correct, that's why some of them haven't
got dates on them.
Would I do it again? Yes, but not for a while I've got another couple of
things that I want to do first. I think I would also pick a definite theme
or topic for my next 365 project, to try and help with focusing on what I
was doing.
All of the photos included in the galleries below. Feel free to browse
through them, I don't expect anyone to look at all of them, but you can if
you want. There is some really good ones amongst them and there's also some
really awful stuff, but every one has a meaning to me, even if it doesn't to
you. Enjoy!
