Today's trip out with the camera wasn't a planned one. The weather forecast was for clear skies overnight so I wasn't expecting any red skies first thing. When I got up at 7am and looked out of the window, there wasn't cloud in the sky. So I went about the normal morning routine of making breakfast, feeding the dogs etc. I went through into the office about 7.30am to switch the computer on, it was then that I noticed that some clouds were appearing. A quick poke of my head out of the front door and I was grabbing my camera and wellies. The forecast had said that some cloud would move in from the west but not until later in the day. Obviously this had decided to make and earlier appearance, and I wasn't going to complain, as it gave me another lovely sun rise for my project. As regular readers of the journal know it's only a short walk from the house down onto the path along side the River Tees. During the winter months this is my preferred spot for sun rise/set photographs. As I was walking down towards the church the first hint of colour was starting to appear in the clouds. One of the nicest parts of photographing these scenes is been able to watch the colour in the sky changing from the deep reds through into oranges and finally warm yellows as the sun breaks over the horizon. Today was no exception, the colours and the clouds were amazing, it's hard to give a sense of scale in these photos of how big the sky seemed to me standing there in the fields. It was all over in about 30 minutes, the sun appeared over the distant Cleveland Hills, so it was time to head back to the house and get the kettle on!
