Today's walk was to introduce the newest member of the family, Cleo, to the joys of walking the Lakeland Fells. We got Cleo, a young collie cross, from the Dogs Trust Darlington rehoming centre last weekend. She is very nervous of just about everything she sees, not surprising since she has spent the last several months in the kennels which was very stressful for her. I wanted somewhere quite to give her an introduction to the Lakes. So I thought Gowbarrow Fell would be ideal, I had forgotten however, that some parts of the country had already started their Easter school holidays. The place was packed, with people, screaming children and barking dogs everywhere. Despite all that she did really well, and we got round the walk with any major mishaps. This was her longest walk so far, only a modest 4 miles, but she hasn't got a lot of muscle on her just yet. Give her a few more months and there will be no stopping her!

As you gain height the views across Ullswater get better and better

The return route was along the terrace path overlooking Ullswater
Which IMHO give outstanding views over the lake and the surrounding fells
