I had been getting big withdrawal symptoms from the lack of walking/photography I had managed over the last couple of weeks. So even if it did mean getting the 'hire' car filthy from dirty boots and muddy dogs I headed over to the Lakes today for a wander. I'd been wanting to do this particular walk for a while now. It's a slight variation of a walk around Tilberthwaite that we did last August, but takes in more of the highlights of the area. On today's walk we were joined by a friend of ours Lesley, thanks for your great company Lesley, and Tim really enjoyed sharing your packed lunch with you!

Tim wasn't looking that happy after the drive over, the boot in the 'hire' car is only about half the size of ours, he was a bit cramped!

Passing Yew Tree Farm as we made our way towards Tilberthwaite

with Tim Dawg leading the way!

Raven Crag on Holme Fell

Shepherds Bridge

Yewdale Beck

Giant Panda's in the woods?

Heading across the fields towards High Tilberthwaite

The view back towards the Yewdale Fells as we started along the track that would take over into Little Langdale

The low cloud was just starting to lift off Lingmoor Fell as we started the descent into Little Langdale

Little Langdale Tarn with Lingmoor Fell behind

Another view of the tarn, the lighting was really nice with the sun just breaking through the cloud

Pike O'Blisco was still covered in cloud, but there was a little hint of snow on the Langdale Pikes (far right of the photo)

Looking towards Wrynose Pass from Low Hall Garth

The lovely Slater Bridge

and again

I hadn't planned to visit Cathedral Cave, but as we were passing we called in!

I'm quite pleased with these shots from inside the cave as I didn't have the tripod with me today

Abseiling in the 'Cathedral' behind the cave

By the time we had finished exploring the cave the cloud had broken up and there was lots of lovely blue skies

Lingmoor Fell

and again but this time from Stang End

Lesley, closely followed by Tim, heading down into Hodge Close Quarry

Watch those rocks Lesley, the are very slippery today!

The caves at the bottom of the quarry

looking back out at the way we had come in

and other view from the far side of the cave

Looking out over the pool

and again

As we left the cave we noticed someone abseiling down above us

Heading back up the steep incline, can you spot the old bike?

Looking back down at the cave we were just in

The reflections on the water at the bottom of the quarry were amazing

After a visit to the quarry we then headed to Holme Fell

The reflections in the disused reservoirs were just as stunning as those at the quarry

more reflections

Looking across the old reservoir towards the snow capped Helvellyn range

Looking back towards the cloud covered Langdale Pikes as we climbed towards Usk Gap

and again from a bit higher up

Zooming in on the Langdale Pikes

Perfect reflections on Yew Tree Tarn

While we were taking photos this swan decided to come over and see us, much to the dislike of Tim, there was almost feathers in the air¬!
