I had to go over to the Lakes on Friday, mainly on business, but I did manage to fit in a pleasant lunchtime stroll, with Cleo, to the summit of Binsey. The main reason for doing it was to tick off another new 'Wainwright' for Cleo. But it was much nicer place to have my lunch, rather than sitting in the car somewhere. I also ended up with a couple of really good panoramic shots of the northern fells while I was up there.
The gentle grassy slopes of Binsey, there's even a nice track all the way to the summit
The morning rain clouds were just starting to clear the fells as we started up Binsey
A couple of hours earlier it had been chucking down, so I think we timed it right?
Looking towards the Uldale Fells with Overwater in the foreground
There were several large patches of Mountain Pansies beside the path
Nearing the summit
The summit cairn, tri point and wind shelter
Not too bad of a view for our lunch stop today?
Cleo is learning things fast, and sits patiently while I take photos
This is the view you get on the way back down
and this as well
Off to your right are the north western fells and Basaenthwaite Lake
Bakestall and the Dash Beck valley
