This was our first walk of 2010 in the Lakes, and what a day picked to do it. I'd been really depressed over the last couple of weeks with all that lovely snow on the fells and not been able to get out. Well we made for it today, the weather was as stunning as the views, blue skies and some lovely warm sun, if you could get out of the chilly NE breeze that was. I wasn't too sure how my back/neck was going to hold up on the walk, so the initial plan was to go up to Easedale Tarn, and then see how things were there. Plan 'A' was to drop back down into Easedale and walk back through the valley if I was struggling. Plan 'B', which I'm glad was what happened, was to climb up onto Blea Rigg and walk back over Silver How. The climb wasn't to bad, apart from the old snow, which ranged from frozen solid and icy to wet and slushy. It was worth it though, as we were rewarded with an amazing inversion over Windermere when we go to the top. For scenic beauty I reckon this has to rank in our 'Top 5' walks ever. I hope you enjoy the photo's as much as we enjoyed the views!
