The sun picking out the summit rocks on Stone Arthur, I hoped this was a good omen for today's weather?
A view of Silver Howe as I walked through Grasmere village
Seat Sandal and Fairfield from Goody Bridge, the cloud was still covering both the summits
Helm Crag from where I left the Easedale Road and footpath towards Easedale Tarn
As I headed across the fields the cloud looked as it was starting to lift off the tops?
I still wasn't convinced that the weather forecast was going to be right though about it brightening up?
My route was going to go to the left of the waterfalls in Sourmilk Gill, you can just make out the path beside the falls
Looking across Easedale at Gibson's Knott
As I climbed up beside the waterfalls there was a definite sign of improvement in the weather
A view back down along the Easedale valley from the waterfalls in Sourmilk Gill
I couldn't resist a nice slow shutter speed shot of one of the cascades
Above the waterfalls the terrain becomes a little wilder as you leave the pastures and head onto the fell
Another shot of Sourmilk Gill with Tarn Crag behind
Looking over Helm Crag towards Fairfield, it's the one with the cloud on top
The lovely Easedale Tarn, my route today would take me right round the shore of it
The walk up to the tarn from Grasmere is very popular, if you want to have the place to yourself, best visit either early or late to avoid the crowds. I'd just about managed to get up there before too many others today
The western side of the tarn in dominated by the aptly named Tarn Crag
A view across the tarn towards Dollywagon Pike and Fairfield
By the time I'd walked round to the small stream that runs into the tarn the cloud had eventually lifted of the summit of Fairfield
Apart from the blustery winds it had turned out to be a rather nice day, the weathermen had gotten it right for once!
The southern end of the tarn is dominated by the steep craggy slopes of Blea Rigg
My favourite walk from the tarn goes over the slopes to the left of Blea Rigg and over to Silver Howe
Heading back down the other side of Sourmilk Gill towards the footbridge at Stythwaite Steps
A view of Calf Crag which sits at the head of Easedale valley
As I started the walk back to wards Grasmere the sky started to cloud over again
Blind Tarn Gill with Little Castle How behind
Looking back at Sourmilk Gill and Tarn Crag from where I rejoined my outward route, a simple stroll back along the road to the village
