Well it's been three weeks now and the snow just keeps on coming and the temperature has struggled to get above freezing most days. More heavy snow last night and this morning has added to what's already laying making getting around difficult. In the garden the snow is up to my knee's and it's the same in places along the river, probably deeper in a couple of spots. By the time the sky had started to lighten this morning the snow showers had cleared away, for a while at least. So we donned our boots and duvet jackets and headed off down the river to give Tim a run out. It was bitterly cold but well worth it as the sun rise was lovely again today. There was much more ice floating down the river this morning, and the sheets of ice along the banks were bigger than in previous days. In a couple of places the river is just about frozen right over, though I don't think it completely freeze as the current is too fast, though I could be wrong?
Heavy overnight snow had blanketed the village in another few inches of the white stuff
Don't think we'll be hanging the washing out for a while
No it's not an igloo, it's just our greenhouse, but it's doing a very good impression at the moment
Heading down to the river, a regular trip for me over the last few weeks
A very chilly looking river, with plenty of ice floating down it
An early morning view of the church
The clouds were a lovely red/orange colour from the rising sun
A couple of days ago this side of the river was open water
But now the whole channel has got a covering of snow and ice
It's only where the current is flowing faster where the river hasn't iced over yet
The first rays of the morning sun
Looking back towards the village across the snowy fields
A close up shot if the village church poking out through the tree's
It was bitterly cold and the forecast was for it to stay below freezing all day again
I was hoping for some nice reflection shots, but the amount of ice along the river banks was blocking out part of the shot
The orange light from the early morning sun made a nice contrast to the cold white of the snow and ice!
