This was our second visit to Orrest Head in as many weeks, our previous trip been on 22 May with some of our friends from the Wainwright Society to mark the 80th Anniversary of Alfred Wainwrights 1st visit to the Lake District (which he has made so famous through his Pictorial Guides) and the visit to Orrest Head which so inspired him to return. Today's visit was also to mark the 80th Anniversary, which had been organised by Peter Burgess of the Online Fellwalking Club He had arranged for a vintage 1940's bus to take us from Kendal to Windermere, where we would make the ascent of Orrest Head, followed by afternoon tea. We had a wonderful day with some old and new friends from the OFC, our thanks have to go to Peter for all his hard work and effort in putting the day together. There were lots of other people with cameras on the walk, each with a slightly different view of it. If you would like to see theirs they can be found on the following links ... Richard Ratcliffe (Summiteer) Roger and Ann Hiley (Loweswatercam) Mark Richards Simon Howard John Patterson
