The route map of our walk
From the parking place we headed up the steep lane to meet the Garburn Road
Looking north along the valley, Troutbeck Tongue is the small lump in the middle, we would come back over the tomorrow
The top of the Garburn Road, before we looked for a camping spot we took a short diversion to visit the summit of Sallows
Sheena and a very hot Tim on Sallows, the view to the south wasn't that good due to the haze
Every now and then Tim will pose for me and I get some really nice photo's of him, tonight was one of those times!
Sheena and Tim lounging in the tent enjoying the late evening sun while I got tea ready
Which was Pork meatballs and rice, followed by cheese and biscuits washed down with a rather nice merlot!
Tea was cooking so I sampled the merlot, apologies for the plastic cup, I had forgotten the wine glasses!
While we waited for the tea to heat up, we relaxed and watched the sun go down behind Red Screes
There were a few clouds left in the sky which gave some interesting photo's
The sun set wasn't one of those really stunning ones, but it was still nice watching the sun set from the fells
I couldn't think of a nicer way to spend an evening than watching the sun set over Red Screes
A few planes passed high over head adding their trails to the scene
A panoramic view of the sun setting over Red Screes
The last glimpse of the sun before it sunk behind Red Screes
Next morning the haze had cleared, it was going to be a beautiful day. So after a quick breakfast we packed up the gear and headed off
Looking south towards Sallows and Sour Howes, with Windermere on the right of the photo, as we climbed up onto Yoke
The lush green valley of Kentmere from the same spot
On the summit of Yoke, with Ill Bell and High Street in the distance
Looking south from the unnamed tarn on Yoke
Sheena heading off towards Ill Bell
Looking down on the Kentmere Reservoir from the col between Yoke and Ill Bell
Looking back along the ridge towards Yoke from the final pull up onto Ill Bell
Me and Tim on the summit of Ill Bell with the ridge to Froswick and Thornthwaite Crag behind
Probably my favourite view of the walk, looking south from Ill Bell towards Windermere
Ill Bell from Froswick
Our next target was Troutbeck Tongue, seen here from Froswick
Heading down Scot Rake, an old roman road, towards Troutbeck Tongue
Sheena on the long ridge of Troutbeck Tongue, our descent path was to the left of the gully of Blue Gill
Looking south from the summit of Troutbeck Tongue
Yoke from the descent from Troutbeck Tongue
Looking across towards Wansfell as we made the steep descent down to the valley floor
Looking back at the ridge we had walked along earlier from near to Ings Bridge
Back at Troutbeck Church and the end of another great walk ...
