This was the first walk of our four day break in Eskdale, it was also our very first walk in Eskdale, so it was nice to actually have to get the map out to see where we were going and to name the fells we could see. We started the walk from the Hollins Farm camp site, where we camped for the 3 nights of our stay, which is located in the small village of Boot. It was a lovely introduction to walking in Eskdale, nice easy paths and outstanding views from the tarn.

Looking back down towards the small village of Boot as we climbed up towards the tarn
Hater Fell (left) and Green Crag (right) both new 'Wainwright' summits that we hoped to do during our stay
Looking south to the distant Black Combe
It was very hot work for Tim but we was enjoying it!
Eventually as we walked along the lane from the village Sca Fell came into view
Sca Fell seen as we approached the last wall before heading out onto the open moorland

We almost stood in little chap as we walked along the shore of the tarn
