The route map of our walk
The first part of the walk involved us walking along the road to reach the path up Hartsop above How, it wasn't too bad as there was a footpath for most of the way
Arnison Crag, our planned last summit of the day seen as we began the climb along the ridge to Hartsop above How
Looking across the valley towards Lingy Crag, part of Brock Crags from Low Woods
Both Fairfield and St Sunday Crag were covered in low cloud as we climbed the ridge, the forecast said this would, we hoped so!
Looking down onto Hartsop village from the ridge, with a little bit of Brothers Water in the bottom right of the photo
Caudle Moor, with High Street in the far distance, and Sykeside campsite in the valley
Looking towards Place Fell from Gale Crags
A view of Dove Crag from the summit of Hartsop above How, probably one of my favourite views ...
Hart Crag (left) and Fairfield from Hartsop above How. Rather than taking the direct route up onto Hart Crag from here we cut across Houndshope Cove and onto Dove Crag instead
Again Hart Crag (this time on the right) and Fairfield, seen from the ridge from Dove Crag
Looking back down through Houndshope Cove with Sykeside campsite below in the valley
Looking back down our ascent route from Hart Crag
A view down into Deepdale from Link Hause, the col between Hart Crag and Fairfield
Looking south from Fairfield towards Ambelside and Windermere
Cofa Pike (bottom left) and St Sunday Crag from Fairfield
Looking across to Helvellyn from Cofa Pike
Hutaple Crags on the NW face of Fairfield
Looking along our route to St Sunday Crag from Cofa Pike
Seat Sandal (left) Grisedale Tarn and Dollywagon Pike from Deepdale Hause
Looking back at Fairfield and Cofa Pike as we started the ascent onto St Sunday Crag
Ullswater and Place Fell from St Sunday Crag
Looking across the valley of Grisedale at Striding Edge and Helvellyn
Looking SE towards Red Screes as we walked towards the summit of Birks
Heading down alongside the old wall towards Trough Head and then onto the last summit of the day Arnison Crag
Looking towards Hartsop village from the summit of Arnison Crag with Hartsop Dodd and Caudle Moor in the background
A wonderful view of Ullswater from Arnison Crag
Zooming in on the head of Ullswater ....
