The route map from our walk
Seathwaite Fell, our target for today, seen from the farm at Seathwaite
Looking up at Base Brown from the footbridge of the River Derwent, the waterfall on the right is Sourmilk Gill
Heading towards Seathwaite across the lower slopes of Base Brown
Tim found a much easier way to cross the wall
Looking back down the valley towards Seathwaite
Our first view of Taylorgill Force, the 2nd highest waterfall in the Lakes
A close up view of the waterfall
Sheena making here way up through the steep rocky section alongside the waterfall
The cloud base was down to around 2000 feet today so we couldn't see the top of Glaramara
Sheena looking pleased to have completed the steep rocky section!
The footbridge across Styhead Gill told us we were almost at Sty Head tarn
Styhead Tarn, normally there's a great view of Sca Fell Pike from here, but not today
Looking back down onto Styhead Tarn
The 'stretcher box' at Sty Head, we decided to have a coffee here as it gave us a little bit of shelter from the cold wind
As we climbed up from Sty Head to Sprinkling Tarn the cloud lifted a little to give us a glimpse of Seathwaite Fell
Looking back down onto Styhead Tarn
Sprinkling Tarn, I think this photo tell's you what the conditions were like up there! Finding the summits on the fell tested my map reading skills to the limit today, there are lots of small lumps and bumps which all look the same in the mist, I think we eventually found them.
This is the 'Wainwright' summit of on the north end of the fell and not the highest point, he chose it as the view was superior!!!
Sheena coming down the last steep section of our descent. We had planned to go back to Sprinkling Tarn and then down Grains Gill, but we didn't fancy that with the fog and snow so we headed west from the summit directly down to the footbridge we has passed earlier in the day. I was aiming for the grassy gully, shown by the patches of snow in this picture, but my navigation was slightly out and we ended up coming down through the crags instead.
Borrowdale from Greenhow Knotts
Looking back at Base Brown as we descended towards Stockley Bridge
Stockley Bridge (an old packhorse bridge) takes the path across Grains Gill

Look its my stone if you want one go and get your own!
Looking back at Seathwaite Fell and Taylorgill Force as we walked back down the valley to the farm
