The route map of our walk
The weather wasn't looking to promising as we loaded the gear into the car at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel
After the long drive round to Wasdale, it still hadn't improved that much. We decided to head up to Sty Head and see if things improved
Looking across the fields to the Wasdale Head Inn from St Olafs church yard
The interior of St Olafs church, it is beautiful inside and well worth a visit
Heading along the track through the myriad of stone walls towards Sty Head, somewhere in the clouds ahead
As we climbed higher up the valley the cloud base dropped even lower, leaving us very little to see
Looking back down onto Wasdale Head
It wasn't too long before we reached the cloud base. We made it to Sty Head but the weather was miserable, cold, cloudy and windy so we decided to return back down the same way for a pint in front of the fire at the Inn
Zooming in on Wasdale Head, once we'd dropped below the cloud base
Just typical, the cloud lifted off Sty Head once we were back down in the valley
It didn't last for long before the next lot of clouds rolled down from Sca Fell Pike
Wasdale Head with Yewbarrow towering above it
Looking back up the valley towards Sty Head from the bridge over Gable Beck
Zooming in on a gloomy looking Wastwater from the same spot
This sheep was fast asleep it didn't bother even though we walked right past it!
Looking across to Dore Head from Burnthwaite Farm
Looking up at Lingmell from the same spot
Burnthwaite Farm
Even though it was only a short walk, both Sheena and Tim had enjoyed it
One of the 'substantial' stone walls in the valley, the ridge behind leads really steeply up to the summit of Kirk Fell
A very cloudy Mosedale, no views of Pillar today 8-(
