The route map of our walk
Paul tackling the icy conditions along the lane from the car park, with Roseberry Topping behind
Lots of people were heading to the summit of Roseberry Topping, alas our path wasn't that way today
Tim was really enjoying the snowy conditions
Looking back towards Roseberry Topping as we climbed onto the moors
Looking across to Captain Cook's Monument, the target for today's walk, it had been nearly 10 years since I had last been up there
Looking back again to Roseberry Topping
The halo around the sun is an 'Icebow' caused by light refraction by ice particles in the high clouds, whatever caused it, it was a really lovely sight on our walk, it lasted for about an hour before the cloud thickened
The 'Cleveland Hills' from Great Ayton Moor
Blue skies, light winds and lots of snow, just about prefect conditions!
The car park at Gribdale Gate was very busy today!
Roseberry Topping from Easby Moor
Not enough wind today for that today lads!
The 'Cleveland Hills' from Easby Moor
The monument to Captain James Cook, who came from Great Ayton (or Canny Yaton as its sometimes called locally) which is located on the summit of Easby Moor, a fitting memorial I think
Following the Cleveland Way footpath through the woods
Paul and Timmy enjoying their day out
The road through Lonsdale, I wouldn't fancy driving along it!
Back up on the moors the snow got deeper
And even deeper, but Tim didn't seem to mind
Guisborough village from the Hanging Stone viewpoint
Heading back towards Roseberry Topping and the car after a great winter walk!
