An eventful couple of days changed our plans of going over to the Lakes for a walk this weekend. When I got home on Friday night I realised that I'd lost my Blackberry phone. So I spent the rest of the evening on the phone to Orange, the Police and the insurance company getting the phone blocked and trying to get it replaced. Things didn't get much better on Saturday morning, when I tried to log onto the internet I got a message saying the line was down. So I spent another couple of hours on the phone to a call centre somewhere in India trying to sort it out, to be told that my router was faulty and I would need a new one. So off I went to PC World to get a new one, got home spent another couple of hours trying to get that one working only to find out that it was a BT line fault and my original router was fine. I wasn't a very happy bunny on the phone when I found this out I can tell you. On Sunday morning I wasn't much in the mood to drive over to the Lakes, as I knew it would be heaving, it been such a nice day. So we decided to take Tim for one of the longer dog walks around the village, since it was such a stunning morning. Half way round the walk we got a phone call from one of our friends , Lindsay from Warkwickshire, to say that he was up in the area to collect some gear, and did we want to meet them for a coffee before they drove home. We arranged to meet up with them at Low Force for a short stroll along the river and a coffee afterwards, so after getting back from our first walk, it was a quick change and a drive over to Low Force. It was great to meet up with them, and Tim was pleased to see Alfie again, he hadn't seen him since their last walk together in Oxford last August. It was a nice end to an eventful weekend, I had a phone call from BT at 8pm on Sunday evening while I was putting this web page together to say that they've done some work at the exchange on our line but it could take another 48 hours for the fault to clear. Well hey presto, I got back in from work this evening and everything appears to be working ok. All I've got to do know is to decide whether or not to keep the other router that I bought????

After the events of the last two days it was nice to wander across the fields at the back of the village
It was a lovely summers morning, to nice to be stuck in the house
Sheena and Tim heading along the track back towards the village
These trees were planted several years ago, its starting to look like a proper little woodland now
The new footbridge that was installed this week over Ulnaby Beck by The Mill House
Sheena walking through the poppies that always seem to appear in the corn fields
There were hundreds of them along the path
Looking back over the corn fields towards Brookside House
Last year this field was full of Oilseed Rape, so next year must be the turn for potatoes!
Looking across the fields towards the village, the church steeple can just be seen poking out of the trees
The heavy rain a couple of weeks ago has washed even more of the river bank away
Sheena having a closer look, careful now not too close!!!
Holme House farm on the other side of the river
Getting close to the village, we can see the roof tops of the houses through the trees
St Edwins church from the river side path
The final stretch of river bank, the path heads right, where Sheena is stood, up to the village green
St Edwins church
It's not the easiest to photograph with all the trees in the graveyard
Looking back down onto the river from the churchyard
Heading back over the village green towards home to jump in the car and drive up to Low Force
Waterfalls in Bowlees Beck on the second of our walks today!
Summerhill Force

A view from behind the waterfall
Back out from behind the falls
Lindsay, Alfie, Sheena and Tim at Low Force
The upper falls of Low Force
It doesn't matter how many times I've been before, I never get tired of taking photo's of such a stunning view
A closer shot
A river level view of the upper falls
My favourite view of Low Force, just upstream from The Wynch Bridge
A closer view of the upper falls
Looking out across the fields, Kirkcarrion (a local landmark near to Middleton-in-Teesdale) can just be seen in the distance
