The imposing Stanhope Hall is passed at the start of the riverside path
Stanhope Burn is followed through the woods for part of the walk

Stanhope Dene
Eventually the tree's start to thin out and you get some lovely views along the valley
There are lots of old quarry workings in the valley
Nearing the top of the Dene, our path goes through the old mine workings and up the valley ahead
Stanhope Burn, at the head of the Dene
As we started climb over the moorland, we almost stepped on this little chap,he was trying to hide in the grass, just beside the path. I'm pretty sure its a red grouse chick
